I agree with Robin that this item has long ago ceased to be any sort of working rifle and this will reflect in its value which is merely that of a wall-hanger. It is certainly not worth wasting any money or even much time upon it.

It could be relined to .451.The Lock could be modified to a Detent.A Tang Sight and a Tunnel sight could be fitted.This would make it a shooter after Proof.Ideal for a tinkerer but prohibitively costly to have the work done.Of course it would,nt be genuine but would be ideal for non competition days.A tell tale ring at the muzzle would identify it as relined to inform collectors of its status.

Of course relining to .451 would make it a permanent section one firearm, and might make subsequent selling difficult.
