Miniature cannon shooting has in recent years grown from a few individuals quietly enjoying the sport, through to the Associations newest competitive (with the emphasis on fun) discipline. The sport also allows for creative DIY skills, whereby some shooters in seeking to build stable platforms from which to fire their cannon have gone to the extent of making replica ships decks. Others have built artillery or naval carriages on which to mount their guns.
The Association’s Wedgnock Ranges, Warwick, are open throughout the year, allowing practice at 25m.
The competition programme is generally arranged alongside other MLAGB competitions held at Wedgnock, March to November. Many of the cannon enthusiasts are also pistol shooters and this arrangement enables them to enjoy a full weekend of shooting in both disciplines. The current programme of events is available via the diary page.
The Cannon secretary is Tom Clark.
